About Browns Bay Pickleball – 21/02/2026 Update
We play at the East Coast Bays Leisure Centre, 12 Bute Road, Browns Bay.
Typically, we have 14 sessions a week catering to levels from beginners through to high intermediate/advanced. We love introducing people to the game and as a result have many open play opportunities throughout the week.
Session Info & Schedule Updates
Almost all of our sessions are great value at $6.40. This fee is for one session, so if you decide to play on into the following session you will be required to pay for two sessions.
What follows is a general overview of our sessions from 01/03/2025. There will be changes some weeks and plenty of changes over the School Holidays so for a week by week view join Global Pickleball Network (GPN):

Global Pickleball Network is the best place to stay up to date with sessions, it is free to join and while there is a premium membership option, it is not necessary to purchase this. Another option for up-to-date session information is:

Registered Sessions for experienced players – Sign-Up Required
Three levels of play on offer. These sessions are for players with some experience, so therefore we are unable to accept beginners or novice players at them. Registration is essential via Global Pickleball Network, and numbers are capped. The levels are:
· Developing Intermediate and up – For players comfortable at a 3.0 level on the USA Pickleball skill scale or with a DUPR at this level or above. Visiting players with a DUPR of 3.0 or above welcome.
· Friday 6:00 – 8:45pm
· Saturday 8:00 – 10am and 10am-12pm
· Competitive Play – These sessions require players to be part of the Browns Bay Competitive Group. It is for competitive players who regularly play at Browns Bay and are comfortable playing with and against others at a 3.5 level on the USA Pickleball skill scale or with a DUPR at this level or above. Visiting players with a DUPR of 3.5 and above welcome.
· Tuesday 6:00 – 8:45pm
· Sunday 3:00 – 5:00pm ($10 for this session)
· Sunday 5:00 – 7:00pm Fixed partner doubles ($10 for this session)
· Advanced Play – These sessions are played at Tornado Pickleball in Glenfield on two courts. Our highest players (those with a DUPR of 3.75 or above and those playing at this level) are invited to register in advance. Remaining spots are open to players in the Browns Bay Competitive Group.
· Monday 7:00 – 9:00pm ($12 for this session at Torpedo in Glenfield)
· Wednesday 7:00 – 9:00pm ($12 for this session at Torpedo in Glenfield)
· Thursday 7:00pm – 9pm ($12 for this session at Torpedo in Glenfield)
To be clear a DUPR rating is not required, if you are unsure of your level look the USA Pickleball Levels and self-assess, if you are confident you can contribute to a good game at this level you’re welcome. If still unsure ask an experienced player or reach out to Pete, Jeff, Mousa, Keely or Gina on the committee for some feedback.

Cost & Equipment:
Most sessions cost $6.40, payable at the Leisure Centre reception (cash or card) – Concession cards are available to reduce costs. Some Competitive and Advance sessions have a high price (to cover court booking costs) and require payment by bank transfer. See the session details in GPN for the specifics.
Occasionally, we ask for small donations to help us buy new balls, loan paddles, or nets – every bit helps!
New to Pickleball?
You’re very welcome to join any open play session. Just bring sports shoes and a water bottle – we’ll lend you a paddle and help you get started. If you’ve played other racquet sports, you’ll pick it up quickly!
